SSSNY is also celebrating the arrival of its newest CD"Voices from Darkness," featuring songs composed andperformed by the SSSNY Seventh Training Students. This beautiful collection of original works sung in Shan, Kachin, Pa-O, Burmese, Lahu, and English were written during the September uprisings when students' awareness of human rights, freedom, and democracy were at a peak. This effort grew out of their want to participate in the greater movement to speak out against the brutal military regime of Burma, and to sing out their desires for freedom.
